Opus 4 – Mallets, Percussion & More Part 1
Hi hope you can help me I share your love 4 the old 80ties Roland stuff
I have an old E-20 and D-50 i wanna return to making music what sampler from Roland is cheap and still good enough 2 make some music on my Imac system should a go 4 a s-50 s-300 or s-760 where do I get must 4 my buck.
I have played piano “classic” but dont no much abut samplers or computer music. Getting crazy reading old reviews on the net you sound like you know that S-sampler series from Roæand pretty well.
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your comment. Depends on what kind of sound you’re after. The S-330 snd S-550 are 12 bit, 30 kHz, not really hi-fi specs, so don’t expect em to sound super-realistic. But they are still great for low-fi stuff!! The S-700 series (S-770, S-750, S-760 and SP-700) are 16 bit/44.1 kHz, that’s the same as the CD standard. They have more bandwidth, more sample memory and sound more up-to-date.
All 2nd hand Roland samplers are pretty cheap nowadays, here’s what I would pay for the Roland classics:
S-330: €50
S-50: €75
S-550: €75
S-750: €175
S-770: €200
S-760: €150
SP-700: €100
Add €25 if it comes with mouse (which is necessary if you want to use it properly, same applies for a VGA monitor)
If sample CD’s are part of the deal, expect to pay €10 to €25 extra for every CD.
S-330/550/50 disks you can copy for free at sgroup…..
Good luck!
Rutger
